With in the Lake Champlain inland sea, Woods Island sits between Burton and Knights Island State Parks. Woods is about 1 mile long and 1/4 mile wide with 5 remote campsites. Our group stayed at site 5, one of my all time favorite places to camp. The water was like glass on our paddle out, which was a little over 2 miles from Kill Kare State Park. An easy paddle, but the waters in the lake can change very dramatically if the wind picks up or shift. We spent 2 nights on the Island and got some much needed R&R, fished, paddled, snorkeled, hiked, observed the plant and animal life, and enjoyed the company of friends. We got a small sprinkle of rain the first night, but in general the weather could not have been better and the water was in the mid 60′s which was great for cooling off from the sun. I brought my new canon s100 point and shoot camera and captured a few shots from our trip to share. Enjoy! -Chris
